SELF-DEFENSE PROGRAMS
Here at KATMA Defense, we are dedicated to empowering individuals through practical, reality-based self-defense training.
Our instruction includes the nationally recognized R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) Program, which we have been proudly teaching since 2012.
We currently offer R.A.D. classes several times a year in partnership with the Savannah Police Department’s community outreach division. Savannah Impact Program.
In addition, we offer Mindful Hands, a specialized self-defense program designed for individuals who are blind, have low vision, or live with physical disabilities. These programs are conducted under our nonprofit organization, Smart Warriors, Inc. (501(c)(3)), reflecting our mission to make personal safety and empowerment accessible to everyone in our community.

WOMEN'S SELF-DEFENSE
Rape Aggressor Defense Program for Women

R.A.D. Program is the largest network of its kind with over 11,000 Instructors receiving training in our systems to date. These Instructors teach at various colleges, universities, and municipal law enforcement agencies, as well as various other community organizations internationally. R.A.D. has trained more than 900,000 women since the program began in 1989.
Participants will have the opportunity to: raise their awareness of aggressive behavior, recognize how aggressive behavior impacts their lives, learn steps to avoid aggressive behavior, consider how they can be part of reducing aggression and violence, and practice hands-on self-defense skills to resist and escape aggressive behavior directed toward them. This program is designed to empower participants to make safer choices when confronted with aggressive behavior.

Our RAD Program
Being able to protect yourself is your right. In today’s world, it seems you have to be even more careful. No one has all the answers on the best way to protect themselves. At KATMA we offer a solution with RAD for women. We are able to provide instruction for 10-15 ladies at a time. Over 40 hours of RAD instruction ( Basic Physical Defense and the Advanced Self-Defense ) are available. Each program can be taught as a separate course or together. Training can be conducted at our location or off-site.

Mindful Hands
Adaptive Self-Defense

SELF-DEFENSE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND, LOW VISION, AND HAVE DISABILITIES

Mindful Hands is a specialized self-defense and empowerment program designed for individuals who are blind, have low vision, or live with physical disabilities. This inclusive initiative teaches practical self-defense skills, situational awareness, and confidence-building strategies that promote safety and independence. Veterans and participants from local centers for the blind are among our priority students.
Each class is tailored to meet a wide range of physical abilities and learning needs, with training options available in 2-, 4-, or 6-hour sessions. Participants learn adaptive techniques that focus on awareness, movement, and protection in realistic situations—all within a safe and supportive environment.
The goal of Mindful Hands is to train 100 participants over a two-year period, offering each student a pathway to empowerment through movement and mindful action. The program emphasizes inclusion, ensuring that individuals who are often overlooked in traditional self-defense settings have access to quality safety education.
This program was developed and refined through my professional training with nationally recognized organizations such as SEED (Safety Education Empowerment and Defense), STRIVE4YOU, and the 1Touch Project. These programs have helped shape the foundation of Mindful Hands, allowing it to provide a holistic and accessible approach to personal safety for people who are blind and those with disabilities.
Mindful Hands training must be scheduled.
